So you want a BLOG Make it successful with "BLOGGING 101" By Peter Alkemade So you want to set up a blog...Or already have a blog but can't work out why it isn't getting the traffic or return customers. Find everything you need to know to set you in the right direction with "BLOGGING 101" Blogging is the latest craze sweeping the net and is a great source of revenue for the novice and proffesional alike. But it is no use telling everyone your opinion if no-one is listening is it? Learn exactly what it takes to be a blog genius and get people to listen and note what you are saying. Blogging 101 is the first instalment in a series of articles I have produced to help you succeed in your chosen topic...and field Let me explain to you why I have chosen to do this. I personally have three blogs covering different subjects and offers and until I got this information I was just wasting my time. I was certain I had good copy and my subjects were popular but I just couldn't get the readers or traffic to my sites. So being me and not just being happy to fail in this I went and done some checking.Imagine my suprise when I started reading up only to find out I was doing everything wrong and was practically chasing readers away with BIG WORDS, BORING TOPICS AND TO MUCH INFORMATION.. That last one is the killer..Read on to find out what I mean.. If your visitors aren't getting caught up with your writing or topic they arent going to keep reading. Have you ever picked up a book only to put it down after the first couple of pages... It may have been the best story ever written but if you cant get into it in the first couple of pages (or lines for a blog) you will never finish it.And god forbid if a book or story confuses you with technical jargon unneccessary big words or total giberish who wants to read that. Here are 6 great tips to lead you to successful blog. 1.Make Your Blog As Unique As Possible There are Millions of Blogs ou there and for yours to stand out you have two options. Option one..Be an outstanding author(The next great thing)Unfortunately only one in a million can write good enough to be unique and compelling enough a writer to rate that highly Option Two...you can create your own look or image there are heaps of templates available so you don't need to be an expert to creat a great look.. 2. Consider your audience This is quite obvious really but it is amazing how many blogs fail for just this reason. You have to remember even if your blog is personal, it would still be better to consider the minds of your readers. If they aren't interested they won't read. After all most people who write blogs would love to be heard and would love to be known.(If you didn't want people to read your information you probably shouldn't post it to the web) 3. Picture Speak A Thousand Words To make your blogging a more pleasurable and memorable experience for your readers, PICTURES, are unbeatable. This doesn't mean you have to post a picture of yourself or even a personal picture for that matter. Just pleasant unoffensive pictures can make a huge difference (of course topic relevance is important). There are people out there who will remember nice picture instead of the topic matter and be drawn back by it.(You know the "I know the face but can't remember the name.) 4.Make Constructive and Benefitial Blogs No matter what it is you have to tell the world it would be greatly beneficial to create some write ups which are beneficial to your readers. 5.Avoid Making Complicated Blogs Bear in mind that most internet user are browsers not readers. Keeping this in mind try not to use to much technical jargon or confusing words.(If your readers feel you are coming across as superior they won't want to come back and if they can't understand you or need a dictionary every other word just to understand what they are reading THEY JUST WONT BOTHER) 6.Make It Interactive As much as you can( depending on your blog host and capabilities) add an interactive element to your blog. You can do this by some video or audio clips to your blog. You could (and should) add a feedback or comments area in your blog to get your readers involved and more interested. This also gives you great resources for your next topic. You can base your next article on your readers question and comment topics.Giving you an endless stream of topics to post.
