Mailboxes should not be accessible to the general public, if you wish to keep your mail safe. Why subject yourself to such risks when secure locking mailboxes are all that are needed to keep your information safe? Although secure lockable mailboxes provide an additional protective step, if its structure is easy to break, the lock is nothing more than a delay for dedicated criminals. For example, if the mere swing of a baseball bat is enough to blow the hinges off of your mailbox, how useful is the lock?
