Uncovering & Releasing The Deeper Roots Of A Public Speaking Phobia

Author: Nick Arrizza, M.D.

In my view all phobias are caused by early life trauma which remain "embedded" in an individual just like untreated parasites.

The "parasite" is in fact the imprint of the memory associated with the trauma. Such memories are multidimensional in nature; they have associated with them negative beliefs, emotions, perceptions, behaviors and personality structures.

Their effect is much like a "software virus" that hijacks your computer from you and takes it to places you never intended it to go. In the same way such "memory parasites" or emotional software viruses lurk in your unconscious mind and body and at the right moment become activated to usurp control of your mind, emotions, behavior and therefore your life away from you.

What's more this emotional software virus creates inordinate amounts of discomfort, depletes your energy, undermines your self esteem, self worth, and self confidence, and undermines your feelings of personal adequacy.

The stimuli that trigger these emotional viruses into action are always related in some way to the original trauma that created them. An example of such an early trauma might have been being humiliated as a small child in front of ones friends. This creates the imprint I mentioned earlier.

The imprint consists of the memory of the event along with all of the feelings and limitations that go with it i.e. feelings of humiliation, shame, inadequacy, anger, frustration, sadness, fear, feeling small, feeling dumb or ignorant, rage, feeling out of control and so on.

This imprint gets stored inside the individual and acts as a hidden emotional landmine (see my article on Emotional Landmines) waiting to go off whenever the individual finds themselves in a situation that resembles the original incident in some way i.e. being in front of a crowd might be one of those similarities.

In the latter case the individual may feel a great deal of "unexplained; anxiety, fear and avoidance. I say "unexplained" because to them they may not have full conscious awareness of the connection of their anxiety in the present to the emotional trauma that created it.

Why is this? Well because the earlier trauma was simply that "traumatic" and therefore emotionally painful. In order to go on functioning the individual chose to "bury it" deep inside and by doing so believed that the problem had disappeared.

Well it didnt disappear; it only disappeared from conscious awareness. It also went into the mind/body and has remained active there threatening to break through into consciousness with full force whenever it is stimulated.

Now because many such individuals find that revisiting the old trauma is uncomfortable at best they have choosen to "pretend" to themsleves that it is better not to do so. Of course this only leaves them feeling vulnerable and limited in their day to day life by it.

As many of you know, if you harbor such trauma, the limitations can literally make your life intolerable.

There is only one way to address this problem effectively, quickly, painlessly and permanently. That is to completely "diffuse" the emotional landmine that lurks within.

A new modality called the Mind Resonance Process(TM) (MRP) that I developed over 10 years ago has the capability to do this. I have written extensively about MRP in this ezine. MRP has helped hundreds of individuals reclaim total control over their lives in ways they could never have imagined.
